Monopoly: Here & Now

Hey, if you haven't heard, head over to Monopoly.com and vote. Hasbro is releasing a newer, more updated version of Monopoly. It'll feature airports (LAX, Chicago O'Hare, etc.) instead of railroads, higher denominations of money, more modern versions of "Chance" and "Community Chest" cards, along with a completely redone property system. Instead of Atlantic City landmarks dotting the board, it will be replaced with landmarks across the nation.

What landmarks? Well, that's what the voting is for. Until May 12th, people can vote daily on their choice of city landmarks throughout the United States. The voting will decide what landmarks will replace ol' Boardwalk and Baltic.

Personally, I think it's kind of fun to see what landmarks are being offered. White House? Check. Golden Gate Bridge? Check. Disney World? You bet.

For those of us that still like the old school game, it'll still be offered for nostalgic purposes. But the "Here and Now" edition of the game will supposedly become the mainstream version of Monopoly in years to come.

New Website Up... Seriously.

Okay, this time I'm serious. My writing website, FlynnTaggart.com, is now operational. At least, it's as operational as it's going to get right now. There are still a few sections that are empty, but that's just because I don't have anything to put in them. Sorry 'bout that.

The blog on that site will be solely about writing. So, if you still want to hear my opinions and such, you can keep tuning in here. If I still interest you, that is. This blog will continue to be operational until my other website (the real grumption.com) gets rolling. I'd like to set an ETA on that, but everytime I do, I end up being totally wrong. Once that's up, I'll move this blog directly onto the site and there will be much rejoycing.

A Very Hybrid Easter

First off, I hope everyone is having a happy Easter. I've been spending most of my day working on website stuff, so far. What a way to spend the day, eh? Easter has never been much of an exciting holiday for me. I'm not all that religious and other than my parents hiding an Easter basket when I was little, there's never been any gift exchanges. But, that's just me. I hope you're enjoying the day in whatever way makes you happy.

If you're interested in some new music and you enjoy the electronic genre, you may want to check out Hybrid. I recently came across some of their music on Rhapsody and found it incredibly catchy.

If electronic music isn't your thing, then there's always Blackmore's Night, which has become my "Artist of the Year" so far. Their music is a sort of renaissance-rock. Interesting combination to be sure, but very listenable and great background music if you're working on a project.

Okay, that's all I have today. You may go about your business.

New Website Up... Sort Of.

I finally got FlynnTaggart.com to the point of functionality. Right now it's running pretty bare-bones, but the main stuff is working: blog, biography, forums. I'm hoping to fire up the additional features in the coming weeks (read: months), but we'll get there eventually. Keep in mind that while the forum is functional, it doesn't look 100% solid. This is mostly because the graphical icons in the layout aren't fully optimized for the design yet. So, you'll see some white jagged bits of graphic hanging out. Hmm.. That sounds naughty.

In other news, tax season is all but over with. My work is done, which means I can finally get back to the writing and website work. I've already started brainstorming for my "Gaia Theory" revision. The ideas include a completely new opening to the book, deeper characters, and more fleshing out of the original storyline. And for those of you that read the novella, get ready, because the entire ending is being reworked.

As some of you may have heard, I took a 4-day vacation to Florida near the end of March. It was a lot of fun. I walked away with some funny stories (soon to come) and the worst sunburn of my life. I actually received second-degree burns on the top of my ears. Didn't even know that was possible. Now I know why I stay tucked away in my apartment during the day.

Well, I'm a vampire too. Dracula ain't got nothin' on me.

I'm Here

Yep. I'm still living and breathing. Got back from a small vacation in Florida a little over a week ago (I was sunburned so badly that I'm still peeling) and have been busy with tax season work ever since. Anyway, the purpose of this post is just to let you know that normal updates will resume as we close in on April 15th.

The final tax season push is on, but I shall prevail!
