I've done this because I'm tired of relying on Blogger's spotty service. It seems that half the time when I feel like posting something, the website is down for maintenance, or running slowly, or I end up getting SQL errors. It doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be noticeable. Now I'll be able to run my personal blog off my own web server, which is far more reliable.
